Post 6: How green are you?

Sincerely, I don’t know how I’m going to archive writing 220 words in this Post, because the only thing that I think I do to help the environment is not using a car as transport. Never had recycled my waste, never joined or supported any eco-organization… and I know it’s not a very good excuse but… I’m a lazy person :P.

Painfully I don’t have the alternative to use a bike or walk for moving around, because I live really far from the places where I usually go for studying, shopping, or eating, so the only alternative that I have is to use public transport. But if I could, I would use my bike to go to everywhere.

But I can tell what is missing from the people of Santiago (including me), and that’s the respect for the others. A lot of people doesn’t even bother to put his waste into the right places or just throw it to the street, even having ecological programs in their towns. We also have too much cars in circulation, making our air quality worse for everyone, and that could be fixed if we simply improve our public transport system.

Some habits that I have are turning of the lights that I’m not using and disconnecting the battery chargers, also taking short baths to save water. For changing the world, first we have to change ourselves. So, who knows?, maybe one of this days I’ll start recycling too… everything is possible and it’s never too late… right?

So… to answer the question, I consider my green level very low, I’m sorry :c

Post 5: My Future Job

Well, if i had the option to not work, that would be my perfect situation ha ha, but as I will not have that option, this is what I'm think I'll be doing when I finish studying. I'd like a job related to my career obviously, but not in an office inside four walls, I'd like something that could give me a lot of freedom, maybe not working by contract. So I think the most compatible option for my desires is to work with the development of management plans, which combines outdoors and indoors activities, and because I could be doing a research in a lot places, I'll have to travel to many locations along Chile. In order to do this, the major I'm thinking to take is Management and Environmental Planning because it will give me the knowing and experience to employ it in the correct decision making and coordination with companies and governmental organizations for the realization of plans, projects, and environmental politics. Even so, I'm not hundred percent sure if I'm going to do this (everything could happen and my convictions in life can change) this is the closest approach of what I'll be doing in the future. I think it fits me well because I don't like messing with people everyday and it's really motivating to me working for a right management of our nature.

China!

If someone asked me what country I would like to visit, the first thing that pops from my head is China. Why? Because I want to see with my own eyes the diferences between the occidental and oriental cultures. I really would love to see some representatives places from those far and particular lands, like the rice fields, the buddhist temples, forests, landscapes... Oh! and the food!, i love chinese gastronomy, maybe the most thing I'm going to do is to eat. Another thing that tempts my attention is the languaje, I desire to learn chinese in some point of my life.

I think i know very little about China, all I know about is that is a very extensive country, with a great progress in science an tecnollogy (a lot of people also), and for most, with a long history behind (the dynastic chinese era is very interesting to me). But that is one of the things that motivates even me more to travel there and to learn everything I dont know about their culture by first hand.

If I have the opportunity to do it, I would go to study or work there without hesitation, not beacuse I have the knowing that there are a lot of jobs or the academic systems are the best of the world, it's just because it would be a great exerience and a change of paradigm for me.

Welcome

My name is Cristian Parra, I'm 20 years old and I'm studiyng forest engineering (going in my second year). What I like to do the most is to surf on the internet searching for silly videos and playing videogames.
I'm not really good at anything in particular, but maybe it is a nice thing having a lot of patience. Some of my weaknesses are that I'm a really shy person and I'm used to do all my works very late, but I'll try to fix that in the future.
I expect to improve in my English pronunciation and expand my vocabulary this semester.
